Azadi Tower

Azadi Tower is one of Tehran Province’s significant tower and city landmark sites, introduced here through its background, highlights and practical visiting guidance.

Designed by Hossein Amanat and completed in 1971, Azadi Tower combines geometries and references from pre-Islamic and Islamic Iranian architecture and became a defining symbol of Tehran. Understanding this background places the attraction within the wider historical and cultural development of Tehran rather than treating it as an isolated stop.

The main arch, white marble cladding, patterned façade, underground galleries and surrounding oval square create changing views of the monument. During the visit, notice how details, circulation and surroundings relate to one another; those connections are central to the identity of the place.
